Kitchen Inspiration

As you know, we're starting a little kitchen face lift.
My cute hubbie is quite busy during the week, so this will be a slow weekend warrior project.
I'm just happy that it's happening.
I am very thankful for my home,
but it's not exactly my style.
It was built in the 90's, so I've been slowly eliminating baby blue.
I have a dream to someday live in a farm house with fun old character.
Who doesn't have that dream right?
So until then, I will choose to be thankful and have fun making our home more our style.
Here are a few images I've been collecting as inspiration.

Come dream with me . . .

Love the colors in this one

We've been roaming around all the local wood stores
to pick out our wood for counter tops.
Aren't they beautiful?
The ones pictured above I believe are from IKEA,
but "we" will be building ours.
The closest IKEA is 10 hours away and my handy husband is an amazing wood worker.

I already have my old iron brackets
to have beautiful open shelving.
We will also be putting in a bead board back splash.

I'm not brave enough to paint my walls aqua
(although I LOVE this color combo-
and I NEED those polka dot bowls, NEED I tell you)
but "we" will be painting the cabinets white, changing out the hardware, changing out the faucet, and installing new lights.

Which my handy hubbie is going to make me these lights.

I'm so excited to put in checkered flooring
(no not black and white)
but something soft like this.
This is my amazing sister-in-laws kitchen.
So I am totally stealing her flooring idea.
You should check out her total kitchen transformation at her
adorable blog.
She has the funnest style!

All in all you can see that I'm trying to make it a light and bright kitchen.
With plenty of color and vintage touches.
(I couldn't find the source on this one- opps)

 So many fun ideas!
And I love the challenge of being on a squeaky tight budget.
I'll keep you updated on the progress!

Hope you have fun plans for the weekend!!
