Just Chill

Hello There!

Hope you are all enjoying the last few days of summer.
I have to admit,
I've been ignoring the back to school sales
and my heart dropped a bit when I saw mums outside Home Depot.
I know it's coming, I'm just not quite ready yet.
Ya know the feeling?

We have been blessed with a busy summer
packed with many fun adventures.
The month of August is looking refreshingly slow.

But with these slower days,
I'm realizing that I forgot how to slow down.
I don't know how to just chill.

If I have a free few hours, I find myself feeling anxious trying to figure out what I need to accomplish during that time.
Should I work on lesson planning?
Should I finish fluffing the laundry room and my craft space?
Should I paint the living room?
Maybe I should paint my old desk . . .

Stop it already crazy girl!

So I'm learning how to slow down this month.

I know an anxious heart and busy body outlook is not how God wants me to spend my days.

So this month,
I'm slowing down.

I'm going to allow myself to read in the middle of the day.
I'm gonna have a day without a 'to do' list   (now that will feel weird)
I'm going to play with my girls and be spontaneous.

Because those silly girls keep having birthdays even when I tell them to slow down.

Oh yea, it's gonna be good.

I think this slowing down bit is going to agree with me quite nicely.

Hope you take a few minutes to do something for YOU today!

  1. This week is busy with Kids' Worship Arts Camp at our church. I'm looking forward to slowing down a bit, but it won't be this month or next... ;)
That quilt in the last picture is so pretty!

  2. Love this post. Yes I really need to learn how to slow down. My kids go back to school on Monday and I like I kept them to busy this summer...we did not sit and just enjoy one another as much as I had wanted to.

  3. Slowing down is magical. I am taking school pictures of my kids and some friend's kids tonight and then after that I am taking the kids night swimming at the gym! Thanks for the reminder sweet friend!

  5. Beautiful pictures Miss Amy! Your flowers are gorgeous :) Yes, slowing down is important. I need to work on that, too. I can say, yesterday our biggest accomplishment was making "Big Book of Boo Boos" from Disney Junior website. It made their day- especially when I used pretty ribbon to hole them together. It really is the little things! Oh, and now non of our cereals have boxes from making the books! hahaha
